Description
Built for the fish that eat streamers backwards. Short Strike is a trailing-hook articulated streamer with a white rabbit zonker wing, hot yellow schlappen collar, silver flash, and painted eyes on the front. The rear stinger hook is set exactly where fish grab.
Rabbit fur breathes in the water like nothing else — every pause, every mend, the profile pulses. The yellow collar throws contrast that shows up in stained water and low light. The trailing hook fixes the classic streamer problem of short strikers coming up empty.
What eats it: Big brown trout on the swing. Pike and pickerel in weedy backwaters. Snook and specks in the marsh. Redfish that want a bigger meal. Anywhere fish are hunting five-inch baitfish.
How to fish it: Strong strips with hard pauses — the fly darts and stalls, and the rabbit breathes on the stop. Swing it through current seams for browns. Dead-drift it under a bobber in still water. On a sinking line it hunts the bottom.
Size: 6 cm total length. Tied on Daiichi 2546 saltwater hook, #8 lead hook plus trailing hook. Built for hard-mouth fish.
