Fly Tying Materials

Materials for fly tyers who care about durability, sink rate, and the specific properties that make a fly actually work on the water — not just look pretty on the vise. Below is how we organize the collection and what we tie our own flies with.

What we make in-house

FINATICS-tied materials — most of the private-label materials in this collection are packaged by us for saltwater and warmwater durability:

• Voodoo Faux Fox Fibers — synthetic craft-fur substitute that pushes water and holds movement. Alternative to arctic fox with better durability.
• Cajun Craft Fur — premium craft fur in fly-tying-specific colors and lengths. What we use on the tails of our saltwater streamers.
• Finatics Premium Loose Marabou — 3–5" plumes, individually inspected. No dead center feathers, no broken tips.
• Crab Trap Dubbing — buggy synthetic dubbing designed specifically for crab and shrimp bodies.
• Krewe Ice Dubbing — ultra-flashy synthetic blend for streamer heads, collars, and dubbing loops.
• Cajun Gator Tail — durable synthetic tailing fiber for redfish patterns.
• Bayou Fiber Blends — pre-blended natural/synthetic mixes for realistic baitfish bodies.
• Crazy Cajun Legs and Cajun Legs — premium silicone legs for crab and shrimp patterns.

When we don't make it, we buy from tyers who care about the same things we do:

• Nature's Spirit — for premium hackle (Grizzly Variant Schlappen), icelandic sheep, and traditional streamer materials
• The Fly Hair Co. — for badger, bucktail, and specialty natural hair
• Rainy's — for foam bodies, poppers, and specialty tools
• FLYMEN Fishing Co. — for weighted brushes and articulated shanks
• Fly Skinz — for realistic crab and baitfish skins

How to choose materials that last

• Buy for durability, not price. A $10 bucktail that ties 50 flies costs less per fly than a $4 bucktail that ties 15.
• Match hook and material. Salt fibers on salt hooks. Fine natural feathers on freshwater hooks. Don't cross-breed.
• Store it right. Cedar-lined boxes for naturals, sealed bags for synthetics, cool and dry for everything.

What's not on this page

We don't stock disposable holiday-craft materials, cheap import fillers, or the same generic brands you can buy in any big-box catalog. If you can find it anywhere, we probably don't sell it. Our materials selection is deliberately narrow — durable, useful, and worth the shelf space.
