Description
The Swamp Rat is built for one thing—explosive surface eats.
Designed to imitate a struggling rodent, this pattern creates a natural wake and subtle disturbance that triggers aggressive, instinct-driven strikes from bass, big trout, and other predators feeding near the surface.
The dense, lifelike body pushes water without excess drag, while the tail profile delivers controlled movement that sells the presentation without overworking the fly. Fish see it, track it, and commit.
Built on a #2 Ahrex PR320 hook, the Swamp Rat gives you the strength and reliability needed when it counts—around structure, along banks, and in low-light conditions where topwater patterns shine.
This is not a finesse fly. It’s a trigger fly—designed to draw attention, create reaction, and convert opportunities when fish are looking up.
Best fished with a slow crawl, steady wake, or short strips to imitate a rodent crossing the surface.
Ideal for bass, trophy trout, and any predator keyed in on surface movement.
