Description
The Conn-Man Crab is a hand-tied saltwater crab pattern from Connor at Delta Fly Works. Tied on the Umpqua XS506H in #4 — a heavy, wide-gap saltwater hook that turns fast and holds fish — with painted lead eyes for a fast, level descent and hooks that ride point-up on the strip.
Three colors cover the water you'll fish:
- Everglades — yellow-olive with orange belly. The dirty-water and mangrove color.
- Purple — deep purple over black. The low-light and stained-water color that redfish crush at dawn, dusk, and under overcast.
- Blue Crab — natural tan with blue accents. The classic clear-water pattern for spooky redfish, black drum on grass flats, permit on the edge of a channel, and bonefish in the surf.
Fish it with short, sharp strips to make the claws jump, then long pauses to let it fall. Redfish, black drum, sheepshead, permit, and bonefish all eat it.
