Description
Carp Maul – Proven Carp Fly
The Carp Maul is a refined, fish-proven carp pattern designed by Ryan Mock, built specifically for anglers targeting carp in shallow flats, edges, and pressured water.
Distributed by Blue Line Co. and offered by FINATICS Fly Company, this pattern has earned its place as a reliable go-to when carp are feeding tight to the bottom and require a clean, natural presentation.
Built with a combination of black synthetic materials and contrasting rubber legs, the Carp Maul creates a subtle but highly visible profile that consistently gets noticed — even in difficult conditions.
Why It Works
• Slim, natural profile carp recognize as food
• Rubber legs create subtle movement and trigger strikes
• Designed to land soft and present naturally
• Rides hook point up to reduce snags
• Proven across clear water, pressured fish, and shallow flats
Weight Options (Dial It In)
Plastic Eye (Weightless)
Best for ultra-shallow water and spooky fish. Lands extremely soft and flips over instantly.
Bead Chain (Light Weight)
The most versatile option. Ideal for typical sight fishing conditions with a natural sink rate.
Dumbbell Eye (Heavy)
Built for deeper water, current, or when you need to get down fast and stay in the strike zone.
Proven Design
Originally developed through extensive on-the-water testing, the Carp Maul has evolved into a dependable pattern for anglers who need consistency when targeting selective fish.
This is not a “try it and see” fly — it’s a confidence pattern.
