Description
Originally designed for fly fishing The Seychelles, the Alphlexo Crab has become a must-have fly for targeting saltwater species such as bonefish and permit worldwide.
These are the genuine Alphlexo Crabs that are produced in South Africa for our friends at Alphonse Fishing Co., who developed and perfected the fly for their guide and lodge operations in The Seychelles. The unique body design of the Alphexo Crab is achieved by tying them with Body Tubing.

How to fish the Alphlexo Crab
Crabs settle — they don't flee. Lead a tailing or cruising permit, bonefish, or redfish and let the fly drop into its path; most takes come on the fall or the first short strip. A small twitch kicks the legs, then let it sit. Let the weight do the work instead of over-stripping.
Choosing size and color
- #2 for bigger permit and redfish and a little more depth; #6–#8 micro for spooky bonefish and shallow, clear water.
- Tan / Mottled Tan over sand and turtle grass, Olive over grass beds, Clear / Clear with Hot Spot for bright sun and pressured fish, Orange for off-color water.
These are the genuine Alphlexo Crabs developed by Alphonse Fishing Co. and produced for their Seychelles guide operations — we carry the full range so you can match the flats you fish.
